Teo Ala-Ruona is a Helsinki-based performance artist, working across dance, choreography, contemporary theatre, and visual arts. Rooted in embodied practicing and theory, his art seeks embodied metaphysical transformation on somatic, psychic and social registers. In his work, trans embodiment operates as a conceptual framework through which he critically examines societal conceptions of the body. He uses the performing body as a site of re-negotiating pregiven categories, and explores how alternative stage realities can challenge normative understandings of bodily limits. Ala-Ruona works with deep performer’s craft and carefully crafted audience engagement. He celebrates the absurd, the transgressive and the impure in his work and life.
Teo Ala-Ruona’s residency occurs in partnership with the Finnish Cultural Institute in New York and the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
Anna Gregor is a painter who occasionally writes about Paintings. She paints observational paintings of mirrors etched with paintings from the past to capture, visually and conceptually, the complex interplay between the past and possible futures in the present act of making and looking.
Ashley Teamer is a visual artist whose multimedia practice engages with the body, nature, space, and time. She addresses these themes through collage by remixing images of the southern Gulf region's landscape and exploring the history of water, land mismanagement, and infrastructure collapse. She works with sound to transform space. Soundscapes are amplified through speaker sculptures. Her work inspires audiences to reflect on their relationship with the Earth. Ashley received her MFA in Painting & Printmaking from Yale University in 2022 and currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Painting and Drawing at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Ashley lives between New Orleans, LA, and Brooklyn, NY.
