Anoushé Shojae-Chaghorvand
Anoushé Shojae-Chaghorvand is an Iranian-American transdisciplinary artist and Assistant Professor of Sculpture + Experimental Media at the University of Arkansas. Her performative installations function as “spatial cinema,” looping, high-tension scenes that probe the absurdity, violence, and collapse embedded in the American Dream. Working with machines, animatronics, and haunted landscapes of amusement culture, she examines how escapist spaces are rooted in histories of tragedy, failure, and devastation. She has exhibited nationally and received support from A.I.R. Gallery, Foundation for Contemporary Arts, RAIR, MASS MoCA, and the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture.
