Invitation to Apply
You have been nominated for a residency by a recent Triangle resident artist. The details on submitting your application can be found below.
This application does not guarantee a spot at the residency; these materials will be reviewed by a panel of art professionals.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Friday October 3rd, 2025 5:00PM EST
Though we typically accept artists through an open call, as we expand our program to include an increasing emphasis on shared experiences, including greater opportunities for connection and dialogue, we are putting our open call on hold until we can solidify the plans and timelines for these programs. We will return to an open call once the program is more established.
Triangle’s mission is to provide committed artists with a transformative working environment, grounded in experimentation and rigor, and offering opportunities to create and share new work in a supportive community of peers and engaged audiences. Triangle offers spacious studios and a dynamic artistic community to support the development of new artwork. Triangle's founding concept and current programs de-emphasize professionalization and specific outcomes, instead allowing artists space and time to focus on their ideas and process. The Triangle residency focuses on building community. Residency gatherings and visits from curators occur several times a month, as well as a seasonal open studio. Interested applicants should be enthusiastic about participating in these meetings and events.

September 1, 2026– November 30, 2026
FEES
There are no fees associated with the residency.

RESIDENCY PROGRAMMING
Curators are invited several times a month for private studio visits with each artist. Visitors are invited taking in consideration the practices of current residents.
Artists are expected to participate in social gatherings, studio conversations, and other shared experiences, including opportunities for connection and dialogue.
Residents are encouraged but not required to organize a program during the residency that will directly benefit their practice, such as a small workshop, a conversation with invited participants, or other customized event. A small budget is provided for this event.
SPACE
Private studios ranging from 180 - 500 square feet with 13 foot high ceilings.
24-hour access
Communal area, basic kitchen, freight elevator, trash removal, slop sinks, and internet access.
Basic communal tools such as hammers and drills. No workshops such as wood shops or metal shops on site.
Access to Materials for the Arts for additional materials and supplies
Artists are not allowed to sleep in their studios. If you are accepted into the program you are responsible for securing your own housing during your residency period.
If you intend to share your studio space with another person or people, you must apply jointly in one application as collaborators or a collective.
ELIGIBILITY
Because of our large-scale studios, we give preference to artists who need space to work.
At the time of their residency artists should not be enrolled in a degree-granting educational program, or any other program similar to Triangle's studio-based residency.
EXPECTATIONS
Successful residents demonstrate that they can manage their time to work productively during this short, 3-month residency; and can set aside significant time each week to be in the studio.
All residents are expected to spend a minimum of 15 hours a week working in their studio.
As we actively expand our programming to include more opportunities for connection and dialogue, residents should be enthusiastic about participating in social gatherings, studio conversations, and other shared experiences.
COVID SAFETY & ACCESSIBILITY
Studios are located on the third floor, accessible by stairs and elevators. The studios, communal spaces and building facilities are wheelchair accessible.
Restrooms are located approximately 150 feet from the studio spaces. Triangle is a tenant in a building with shared facilities, and we regret that there are no designated gender neutral restrooms.
Residents should be prepared to follow appropriate COVID safety regulations depending on the time of their residency; these may include mask requirements.
